"Luke"

Not all of our animals come to us as an abuse or neglect case. Due to a wide variety of circumstances, some animals are considered “Owner Surrenders”, where owners want to make sure that a beloved pet is ensured a safe future and not to be sent through a sale barn or end up as an abused or neglected animal.

T.E.X.A.S. Rescue applauds these owners for this type of decision!

One such case is Luke. A three-year old miniature donkey, who was taken in by a family to join their existing jack and two jennets. However, Luke and the other jack did not see eye-to-eye in sharing their turnout acreage or the two jennets. With battles increasing daily, and injuries beginning to mount, the owners asked us to take Luke in. Luke is as sweet as you could want and wants nothing more than to be loved on. With the excessive heat wave currently bearing down on our state, we will wait for a bit cooler weather to have Luke gelded.

Luke will be available for adoption after being gelded and will surely make an outstanding addition to someone’s current donkey home.

          • Note: Luke wins the award for having the loudest bray of any donkey I have encountered in the past 40 years! Please keep this in mind when     inquiring about adoption!

If you would like to sponsor Josie in her retirement, please contact T.E.X.A.S. Rescue for details! All donations and sponsorships help with everyday care, veterinary bills and feeding of our animals.

Thank you for your support!
